The Iyaloja-General of Nigeria, Mrs Folashade Tinubu-Ojo, on Wednesday threatened a mass protest over the outcome of the recently concluded All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries in Lagos State, alleging that the exercise was skewed in favour of the party’s Justice Forum bloc.
Tinubu-Ojo, daughter of President Bola Tinubu, made the allegation during a meeting with market leaders and stakeholders in Alausa, Ikeja, where she also called for an urgent review of the controversial results before final ratification by the party leadership.
The Lagos APC had earlier released its list of candidates for the 2027 general elections, covering 24 House of Representatives and 40 House of Assembly seats, following primaries held across the state.
However, Tinubu-Ojo insisted that the outcomes in several constituencies, including Mushin Federal Constituency II, Agege Constituency II, and Ojokoro, did not reflect the actual results as recorded at the field level.
She specifically faulted the declared victories of some candidates, including Hon. Seye Oladejo (Mushin Constituency II), Mutiu Olaide Oladeebo (Agege II), and Olotu Ojo (Ojokoro), insisting that their mandates should not be altered.
“We are ready to protest because of Seye Oladejo of Mushin Federal Constituency 02, Mutiu Olaide Oladeebo of Agege 2 constituency, and Olotu Ojo of Ojokoro constituency. We know they won this election. Their mandate should not be given to somebody else,” she said.
The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress had on Monday released the list of successful candidates, with its chairman, Cornelius Ojelabi, signing off on the compilation.
Tinubu-Ojo, however, warned that failure by party leaders at both state and national levels to intervene could deepen internal cracks within the ruling party ahead of the 2027 elections.
She also accused party structures in Lagos of being polarised along factional lines, particularly between the Justice Forum and the Mandate Group, alleging manipulation of outcomes based on bloc interests.
“We have to cry out now. Let APC cancel Justice and Mandate Forums. We are one family. We are for APC,” she said, adding that emerging alignments were distorting internal democracy within the party.
According to her, even within the contest for influence in Lagos politics, loyalty to factions was overriding merit, warning that such developments could undermine cohesion ahead of the next general election cycle.
“Even when he becomes governor, he will not govern only APC members; he has to balance it. Everyone must be carried along,” she added.
She further decried what she described as political inconsistency among party members switching allegiance between blocs depending on perceived advantage, warning that such behaviour sends a wrong signal to grassroots supporters.
“I can’t understand members of Mandate Group dumping Mandate and joining Justice Forum. And if Mandate won the election, they would try to manipulate and put Justice Forum members there. It is saddening,” she said.
Tinubu-Ojo reaffirmed the support of Lagos market women for aspirants aligned with their interests, stressing that traders remain a key political constituency that must not be sidelined in governance and appointments.
The development adds to growing post-primary tensions within the Lagos APC, as stakeholders await the party’s final decision on the disputed constituencies.
