Bago Repositions Niger State in Three Years, Says Commission

The Niger State Commissioner for Information and Orientation Obed Nana has scored the state governor Mohammed Bago high in his three years of administration.

Nana made this known at a media conference to mark the governor’s three years in office.

Arewa PUNCH reports that the conference also served as an opportunity for some commissioners to reel out the governor’s achievements, during which they affirmed that the governor excelled more than his predecessors.

According to Nana, the past three years of the Bago administration has demonstrated visionary leadership, courage, and an unwavering commitment to rebuilding critical sectors of the state’s economy.

He stressed that the engagement provides another opportunity to reflect on the remarkable journey of transformation embarked upon by Bago’s administration under the New Niger Agenda, which he said, washas continued to reposition Niger State for sustainable growth, economic prosperity, and inclusive development.

“Over the past three years, the Bago administration has demonstrated visionary leadership, courage, and an unwavering commitment to rebuilding critical sectors of the state economy while improving the quality of life of citizens across the 25 local government area,” he said.

The Commissioner for Water Resources and Dams Development Engr. Farouk Audi, highlighted several water projects under execution across the state aimed at improving access to clean, safe, and portable drinking water for the residents.

Audi noted that several urban and rural water schemes have either been completed or currently undergoing rehabilitation to address the problem of water scarcity in the state.

Also speaking, the Commissioner for Homeland Security, Barrister Maurice Magaji noted the state government’s commitment to strengthening the security architecture through collaboration with security agencies, community engagement, and deployment of technology-driven surveillance strategies.

He noted that the government has continued to invest heavily in logistics and intelligence gathering to enhance security operations across the state.

In his remarks, the Commissioner for Health, Dr Murtala Bagana said the governor has ensured that the state’s health ministry at the primary, secondary and tertiary levels are given a new lease of life.

While highlighting more on the primary health, he emphasised that the governor has ensured that every ward in the state is equipped with primary health facilities such that residents can now access the nearest primary health care centre closest them

The Commissioner for information summed up the government’s efforts stressing that the initiative reflects the administration’s belief in open governance and public engagement, noting that regular interaction with the media remains essential in strengthening public trust and ensuring accountability.

“In the area of infrastructure, the administration has recorded unprecedented progress through the construction and rehabilitation of strategic roads, bridges, urban renewal projects, and rural access routes aimed at boosting connectivity, commerce, and socio-economic activities across the state.

“The agricultural sector, which remains the backbone of the New Niger vision, has witnessed significant investment through large-scale mechanised farming initiatives, provision of improved seedlings, land development programmes, irrigation support, and strategic partnerships designed to position Niger State as the food basket and agricultural powerhouse of Nigeria.

“In education, the administration has continued to prioritise human capital development through school rehabilitation projects, recruitment of qualified teachers, support for tertiary institutions, digital learning initiatives, and expanded access to quality education for children across urban and rural communities.

“The healthcare sector has equally experienced notable improvements with the revitalisation of primary healthcare centres, expansion of medical services, improved healthcare infrastructure, and renewed efforts toward accessible and affordable healthcare delivery for all citizens,” Nana said.
