Doris John and Daniel Shaibu, from Faculties of Education and Science with CGPA of 4.39 and 4.36 respectively, out of possible 5.0, have received the highest cash award of N500, 000 each in the Lagos State University (LASU), endowed by the wife of the Lagos State Governor, Mrs Bolanle Ambode, at the institution’s 23rd convocation ceremony, held at the university campus on Wednesday.
While the former carted away “Bolanle Ambode’s Prize for Best Graduating Student in B.Sc (Ed) Physics, the latter went home with the Bolanle Ambode’s Prize for Best Graduating Student in Physics.”
A total of 14, 315 students at the undergraduate and diploma levels graduated from LASU out of which 57 made First Class honors, while the ceremony continues on Thursday with students from the Postgraduate school.
Earlier, in his address, the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof Olanrewaju Fagbohun, said the university had made a landmark by producing the largest number of First Class in the institution.
While congratulating all the graduating student, he urges them not to exercise any set back as they move on in life, the VC noted that all had been thoroughly baked for global relevance.
He, however, promised that the university would continue to pursue excellence in all its tripartite functions compromising teaching, research and community services.
