Tinubu sack FCCPC, BPE CEO’S

President Bola Tinubu has sacked the Executive Vice Chairman/Chief Executive Officer (EVC/CEO) of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), Mr. Babatunde Irukera.

Also relieved of his appointment is the Director-General/CEO, Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE), Mr Alexander Ayoola Okoh.

A statement issued on Monday by Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President (Media & Publicity) announcing the action did not give specific reasons why the President dismissed them.

But it said it is “conformity with plans to restructure and reposition critical agencies of the Federal Government towards protecting the rights of Nigerian consumers and providing a strong basis for enhanced contributions to the nation’s economy by key growth-enabling institutions.”

The statement added that the two dismissed Chief Executives have been directed to hand over to the next most senior officer in their respective agencies, pending the appointment of new Chief Executive Officers.

It informed that their removal from office takes immediate effect.
