Taxify Drivers Storm Lagos Road in Protest over Rape stigma

Barely a week ago a Nollywood Actress Dorcas Shola-Fapson took to social media to reveal how she narrowly escaped being kidnapped and raped by a Taxify driver, Henry Chukwuemeka on Wednesday, 24th Jan, and had to use her pepper spray to defend herself before escaping. Day after, Taxify has since released a statement indicating that they’re investigating the case, although the driver has issue a press release to clarify what truly transpire between the two, he went further to press charging against her for defamation character.

Since then taxify drivers have been on the watchlist of all security agents and commuters, obviously the negative effect has been much on the drivers. This has prompted a road protest around the city of Lagos carrying placards with inscription “We are not rapists,” “We are not kidnappers,” “We are partners in this business,” “No driver partners, No Taxify, No Uber, No Riders,” “We need respect from riders,” among others.
