Tanker-Bus accident kill Ten persons in Ife-Ibadan road Accident

According to reports gathered yesterday from an eye witness account, nothing less than Ten persons were feared dead on Thursday in an accident along the Ife-Ibadan expressway.

The crash, which was said to have involved four vehicles, occurred around 3:30pm at a spot called Alasepe, before Ikire, the headquarters of Irewole Local Government Area of Osun State.

The accident involving a petrol tanker, two articulated trucks carrying cement and a commercial bus, caused gridlock for hours on the busy road, making drivers to ply other routes.

An eyewitness account said that the commercial bus coming from Ile-Ife to Ibadan rammed into the two trucks and the petrol-laden tanker before they all went up in flames.

It was also gathered that the two trucks and the petrol tanker were already involved in an accident before the driver of the commercial bus, who was speeding, rammed into them.

The Nation learnt that many passengers of the bus died, while the drivers of the trucks escaped from the scene.

Some of the survivors, but with varied degrees of injuries, were reportedly taken to an unknown hospital by the ambulances belonging to the Osun State Government and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).

It was gathered that the police cordoned off the spot, while FRSC officials controlled and diverted vehicles to the other lane of the expressway.

However, causality figure was not confirmed by our correspondent, as no official of the FRSC could be reached to speak on the accident.
