Mikel Obi Leaves Chelsea, Sign For New Club In China

JOHN MIKEL OBI has reportedly completed his move from Chelsea to Chinese side Tianjin TEDA.

The Nigerian underwent a medical yesterday and pictures emerging on social media this morning suggest a deal has been finalised.

Neither club have officially confirmed the transfer, but according to the Daily Mail, Mikel has put pen to paper on a deal that will see him earn £140,000 a week.

Photos on Chinese website Weibo show Mikel shaking hands with a Tianjin club official.

The 29-year-old has been with the Blues since 2006, but fell out of favour under Antonio Conte with the midfielder not playing a single minute since the Italian arrived at Stamford Bridge.

He fell down the pecking order with N’Golo Kante, Nemanja Matic and Cesc Fabregas all competing for midfield spots in Conte’s 3-4-3 system.

During his time with Chelsea Mikel won the Champions League, two Premier League titles and four FA Cups.

Mikel is the latest Chelsea player to complete a move to the Far East after the Blues sold Oscar to Shanghai SIPG for a reported £52m last month.
