High grade weapons smuggled into the country has been intercepted by the Nigerian Naval Base men station along Abuja/lokoja road. Anonymous source claim that the weapons are heading towards Ekiti state ahead of the coming gubernatorial election before the interception by the arm forces.
The PRO of the Nigeria Immigration Olasunkami Salami, said they were still profiling the illegal migrants to know their track records.
But National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, as reassured members yesterday that APC will sweep the Ekiti governorship poll regardless of any antics or practices custom with the PDP.
He spoke to newsmen after a meeting with the Chairman of Ekiti Governorship Campaign Council, Abubakar Bagudu of Kebbi State.
He promised that the APC would mobilise enough voters to unseat the PDP-led administration in the state.
According to him: “I have fought PDP in Edo, just relying on mobilisation and persuasion and we know how to win. We will fall back on those conventional tools for winning elections.
“Because they are not in that group, they cannot start learning new tricks. So, Ekiti is as good as won. We have a candidate who is not new to governance and he has his track records.”
Oshiomhole added that the last election that brought Governor Ayodele Fayose to office was rigged.
He cited the money collected from the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), the military officers that were ruthlessly deployed, and the young officer who later made a confession that was played on national television.
He said: “Those manipulative tools will not be used this time and so, the governor will have to learn an art that he was never familiar with.
“In line with the PDP tradition, they have always spent their energy on controlling structures and producing candidates whether people like them or not. This time around, they will have to win and not to rig.”
