FG Declares October 2nd As Public Holiday

The federal government as declared Monday, October 2, to be a holiday in commemoration Nigeria’s 57th anniversary – The government wished the citizens a happy Independence Day celebration. This was made known to the general public by Lt Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau (retd.) who is the minister of interior on Wednesday, September 27, in Abuja on behalf of the federal government.

He called on Nigerians to work towards together in maintaining and strengthening the unity that bound the 36 state in the country together. In a statement by the minister’s permanent secretary, Abubakar Magaji, he emphasised “government’s commitment to promoting national unity, economic growth and political development on democratic principles.” He noted that “in the past 57 years, Nigeria had made much progress and positive impact not only on its citizens but also on human development globally.
“The minister enjoined all Nigerians to remain steadfast in the love and care of the country, noting that a strong sense of ownership of one’s country is vital to the sustainable development of any nation.”
The minister applauded Nigerians and the international community for standing by President Muhammadu Buhari. The minister lastly wishes all Nigerians a happy 57th Independence anniversary in advance.
