Bullion Van Robbery: Armed robbers unleash terror on Policemen conveying money to bank

Unknown gunmen on Wednesday looted a bullion van heading to a new generation bank (name withheld), along Ubulu-Okiti Road, Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State.

It was gathered that the hoodlums ambushed and opened fire on the bullion van that was conveying raw cash to the bank.

It was learnt that the hooligans overpowered the security operatives escorting the bullion van as one police officer was allegedly killed in the gun duel.

It was alleged that the police bowed to the superior power of the criminals following the sophisticated weapons in their custody as they purportedly succeeded in their operation and onslaught against the security agents.

The Director-General, Young Nigerian Rights Organization, Comrade Victor Ojei, disclosed: “There was a robbery of a Bank Bullion van at Ubulu-Okiti in Delta State yesterday.”

Other sources alleged that the operation was an insider arrangement as such a high-profile robbery would not be carried out without information.

According to a source who pleaded anonymity, there was crossfire between the police and the armed robbers, leading to the death of two other market women.

It was alleged that the thieves emptied the bullion van in what look like a Nollywood scene, leading to panic in the community, due to the sporadic shooting that accompanied the alleged successful operation.

When contacted, Acting Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Edafe Bright, confirmed the attack.

According to him, “Yes! It actually happened but I don’t have details of what transpired and every other detail that you may need now.

“The only thing that I can tell you for now is that it happened,” he reiterated
