Bayern Veteran Coach Jupp Heynckes, Returns to Allianz Arena

Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich confirmed the appointment of the veteran German coach Jupp Heynckes as a replacement for sacked Carlos Ancelotti till the end of the season.
“There is a strong relationship of trust between Jupp Heynckes and FC Bayern,” said club chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge of the coach who has already led Bayern three times in the past, adding: “He is at the moment the ideal coach for Bayern.”
The 72-year-old, who stepped aside from football after guiding Bayern to the treble in 2013, succeeds Carlo Ancelotti at the Allianz Arena until the end of the season.
“I would not have returned to any other club in the world, but Bayern Munch is a love affair for me,” said Heynckes. Bayern are five points adrift of Bundesliga pacesetters Borussia Dortmund while they are in a battle to qualify for the Champions League knockout stages after a 3-0 defeat at Paris Saint-Germain.
Heynckes first took charge of Bayern in 1987 before returning as caretaker manager in 2009. His most recent spell, from 2011 to 2013, ended with the club winning the Champions League, plus the domestic league and cup.
